wax carving ring workshops

Learn about the process of lost wax casting and carve a wax ring during an afternoon workshop with me in central Bristol.
We will work exclusively with wax, using carving tools, files and heat to create a one of a kind ring, with the additional option for it to then be sent away to be cast in a metal of your choice.
The cost of casting and finishing your piece is not included in the workshop.
Casting, finishing and polishing a ring of up to 5g in recycled silver would be an additional £95. Gold, stones and higher weights of metal can also be quote on the day.
There will be tea, coffee and snacks, as well as the time, tools and guidance to help you create a unique piece of jewellery.

- Sundays 1 - 3:30pm & Thursdays 6 - 8:30pm
- Small group of up to 4-6 people
- Introduction to the process of lost wax casting
- Look at inspirational books, take time to draw out your ideas
- Learn how to use a variety of tools for carving into wax
- There is then the option for your ring to be cast in recycled metal of your choice and will be ready to pick up or post out to you within 4-6 weeks
- I will professionally sand and polish your piece, with the option of a shiny or satin brush finish

Please note that there are a couple of steep steps up to the studio, so unfortunately we can't yet accommodate people who are in a wheelchair. We are working on it.

Please read the details below carefully. When booking a place in this workshop, you accept to have read and acknowledged the cancellation policy.
How long does the workshop take?
The workshop will take 2 1/2 hours. The first part will be an introduction to the processes as well as time to draw up ideas, we will then dedicate 2 hours to the meditative process of carving. I will be on hand to answer any individual questions.
What do I need to bring?
No prior knowledge is required for this workshop and you do not need any special equipment or clothing. Please just make sure you are not wearing your favourite pieces, as some of the working materials could be staining.
Will there be food and drinks?
There will be water, tea, coffee and a selection of gluten free snacks. If you need any other kinds of drinks or refreshments, please feel free to bring them with you.
Is silver included in the price?
The cost of casting and finishing your piece is not included in the workshop.
Casting, finishing and polishing a ring in 5g or less of silver would be an additional £95, payable on the day.
I can also quote for other metals, gold plating or higher weights on the day.
Is this workshop available for larger groups of people?

Can I cancel?
You are welcome to cancel, or change your date, however I would need some notice!

I totally understand that the unexpected can happen, however this cancellation policy is in place to cover my costs of putting on the event. You are always welcome to give your ticket to someone else if you cannot make it. Or swap for another date, if available.
